This is intended specifically for Bang & Olufsen TVs with a SCART socket - the HDR2 takes its commands form your B&O TV remote control.  It must be connected to the B&O TV via a fully wired SCART cable (not included), and the TV must have that input set as V.MEM, or on older B&O TVs, VCR.

I have used it with a Beovision 7, Beovision 8, and Beosystem 3, all of which have SCART, and it worked with all three.  I cannot speak for other B&O models but as far as I know, if it's a B&O TV with SCART, it should work.

It has the older analogue tuner built in but when connected to a B&O TV with a digital tuner, it works with the TV and can record from your TVs digital tuner.  You can also watch another input (such as DVD or Blu-ray) while it is recording, but you cannot watch another channel while it is recording.

It has a second SCART input which was intended for the likes of a satellite decoder, so you could also record from that.

This is a beautifully made piece of kit with its full metal body, and is one for the B&O collector.  I just have no further use for it as I have upgraded to a later model of TV without SCART.  Note that if you don't have a compatible B&O TV or Beosystem, this will be no use to you!
