Here we have a Sony DCR-TRV20E Zeiss Lens Tested Mini DV Firewire (DV) for Editing Camcorder with super nightshot mode. It is useful for playing back your collection of old tapes and/or editing them on a computer with firewire input and even for making retro vintage look movies of your own. This is a premium filmmaking model with excellent manual controls. Please check the listing and photos carefully to see what is and is not included.

NOTE: this is a well used camera and has some issues, so please read the description with care - this explains the low price.

This camcorder is in good cosmetic condition, there are no significant marks on the body and none on the lens, viewfinder or display screen. Some scuffs on the display housing. Also, it is in good mechanical, electrical and electronic condition. NOTE there is a little clicking on FF and RW but this does not affect anything and the rubber cover on the playback controls is missing in parts. The tape door and the display need a bit of effort to click into place. Nonetheless, all of the controls and switches operate correctly and there is no damage to any of the parts.

We have recorded a test film in which we have checked the zoom moves smoothly at all speeds, the autofocus works and locks quickly as it should and that different lighting situations are responded to correctly. We have checked the film on playback to make sure that the heads are clean. On A/V playback there is some shimmering, however, this does not show up on the display. Digital (AV) output is clean.

This package includes:

  • The original replacement battery (which holds some charge although I cannot be sure how much).
  • A quality replacement charger and mains adapter.
  • An Analogue A/V lead to playback through the component RCA input on your TV.
We strongly recommend that you find a manual for this camcorder. They can be easily found for almost all models with an internet search. Make sure that the model suits your needs. Is it for the correct media type? Is it the correct TV standard (PAL - Europe etc./NSTC - USA etc.). If you intend to do editing on your computer, please read up about this - it is not easy and may need extra leads, equipment or software.
