Description

18th century Bronze - Balakrishna dancing  - South India

Early beautiful well-cast -  Krishna dancing atop a circular tiered, plinth, the sides of which are decorated with lotus petals; holding  a butter ball in his right hand, wearing jewelry, but no clothing, other than for chest and waist bands.

The realism and Krishna’s plump and well-rounded features suggest an early dating, rather than a later period when modelling became more stiff and stylised.

Condition: only minor age dings & dents to the base otherwise this is an excellent bronze statue with beautiful patina.

Size: 11cm high and 4.7cm x 4.8cm base wide
