Identified as James Greenawald father of Carrie Greenawald,  mother of dorothy Neuhard. This is a civil war era daguerrotype of James Greenawald. Since I purchased this at a local estate sale in Pennsylvania, I do not know the history of the Greenawald family and am not related to them. The cardboard was inserted into the frame before it was closed last by the family. If I had the time I would research the family myself but now that job will be passed onto the buyer.

The paper holding the folding picture frame together has broken over the years. Originally, the outside of this was gold gilded as there is some slight leftover evidence of this. There are two small metal clasps which fit into the metal holes nicely. There are some spots on the picture as expected with its age and the image type.
