NOTE: Restored as a runner, not a shelf-only build.

Kyosho Landmax 2 Subaru Impreza WRC (MPN 31171).

Fully restored with focus on driveline, shocks, and engine condition. Engine has been started and tested, see video. Radio gear shown in photos is for testing only and is not included.

Note: engine is not original to this chassis. It is a replacement GS21R sourced in near-new condition and refreshed as described below. It should be treated as a fresh engine and run through break-in for best results.

Engine

  • Kyosho GS21R (replacement engine, not original) in very clean condition
  • New bearings and O-rings
  • Pull start cord shows minimal wear
  • New 8mm carburetor (stock is typically 7mm except for Fantom Sports)
  • Kyosho GS21R blue SP option cooling head
  • OS No. 8 glow plug
  • New fuel lines
  • New air filter foam (Protek, not Landmax-specific but fits correctly)

Drivetrain and Chassis

  • Front, center, and rear diffs rebuilt
  • Refilled with silicone oil and resealed with new gaskets
  • Center diff assembly largely replaced, including mounts, brake pads, discs, cams, and top plate
  • Center diff shaft and mount replaced
  • Spur gear, bevel gears, and drive bevel components refreshed
  • Diff cases and gaskets replaced where needed

Suspension

  • Shocks fully rebuilt and filled with Kyosho 350 silicone oil
  • New grooved O-rings
  • New diaphragms (HC type)
  • Ti-coated shock shafts installed (gold, Ultima option parts)
  • Replacement pistons installed (V-One parts modified to fit)

Hardware and Assembly

  • Original hardware cleaned and reused where practical
  • Remaining hardware replaced with hex hardware
  • Servo mounts and screws included

Body

  • Subaru WRC body (used, see photos for wear and repaired cracks)
  • Cracks repaired with fiberglass tape and Shoegoo
  • Reinforced in stress areas
  • Metallic tape added around exhaust area
