Up for sale is a wildly toned 1955 Franklin Half Dollar graded NGC MS64 FBL. And yes… before anyone asks… NGC decided this masterpiece should apparently live its life sideways in the holder.
Why? We honestly have no idea.
Our best theory is somebody at NGC saw the toning and thought:
“Yeah… normal orientation just isn’t dramatic enough for this thing.”
This coin absolutely explodes with color under light. Electric blues, golds, violets, sea green, smoky charcoal, and neon highlights dance across both sides with that unmistakable original album toning look Franklin collectors chase endlessly. The reverse especially has that glowing, textured rainbow skin that keeps pulling your eyes back in.
And the FBL designation? Fully Bell Lines. Because apparently this coin wanted both technical quality AND psychedelic personality.
A lot of toned Franklins are dull in hand.
This one is not.
It has the exact kind of chaotic, crusty, vibrant look that makes collectors stop scrolling and stare for a minute longer than they planned.
Coin Facts:
• 1955 Franklin Half Dollar
• NGC Certified MS64 FBL
• Incredible multicolor rainbow toning
• Sideways holder orientation from NGC
• Strong luster beneath the color
• Eye appeal far beyond the grade in our opinion
A short poem for the occasion:
NGC turned it sideways one late grading night,
Perhaps the colors burned a little too bright.
Blue, gold, and violet screaming “pick me!”
Franklin said: “I’m art now. Respectfully.”

Family owned. Coin obsessed. Probably overanalyzing toning at 1:30 in the morning while drinking cold coffee.
