The Eastern dragon is one of the two major types of dragons and is opposed to the European dragon in that it is not automatically evil. It represents the forces of nature and therefore must be viewed with caution because, like nature, it can be dangerous. Different forms, with different names, exist in Asia, nevertheless with quite similar morphology. The Chinese dragon is the most representative of all, a creature of the Chinese civilization which reigned over a large part of Asia. Throughout Eastern cultures we find the symbolism of the dragon as a representative of the emperor or the representative of power.
