Today I am offering this fabulous vintage pair of Gensini Italy ceramic angel wall hanging art plaques.

This spectacular, rare matching symmetrical pair of mid-century Italian art pottery wall plaques by Franca Gensini (Gensini Ceramiche) feature a stylized illustration of two Christmas angels, these pieces perfectly capture the vibrant turquoise and incised sgraffito aesthetic popularized by Bitossi during the post-war Italian design boom.

They are highly glazed, multicolored pieces with slight variations in the color scheme.

They both depict a whimsical lady angel with her arms around a child angel.

They are rectangular in shape with an arabesque point at the top.

As far as these pieces go, this is a substantial size with the approximate dimensions of each as follows:

• 8¾" from top to bottom
• 4¾" from side to side
• ½" thickness

They are both hand-incised on the underside "GENSINI ITALY".

Additionally, both pieces have the original department store paper sticker label from Kauffmann's Fifth Avenue, Pittsburgh.

One of the labels is fully intact, the other is partially torn.

There are also very small sticker labels on both that read: A 20.

Also, the one with the intact Kauffmann's label has a hand written notation on the side edge that reads: Adrienne Maigre (or Malgre) 1960.

I don't know if that was the previous owner's name, or possibly an artist's name).

These are both in excellent vintage pre-owned condition.

One has no chips, cracks, fleabites, or repairs.

The other is free from damage with the exception of a tiny fleabite at the very tip of the top point. (see picture with issue circled in green so you can clearly see what I am describing).

Both have light surface crazing as one might expect in 66+ year old ceramics. But certainly nothing distracting or unsightly.

This is a truly amazing, investment-grade set of mid-century European folk art pieces, perfect for holiday display or year-round gallery walls.
