Up for sale is a genuine, original Sony PlayStation 4 Blu-ray disc drive mechanism salvaged from a working CUH-1116 "Fat" model console.
The mechanical gears, rollers, and internal laser lens assembly (KEM-490AAA / KES-490A) are all original and in good working condition.
⚠️ CRUCIAL PLEASE NOTE (MOTHERBOARD PAIRING):
This drive includes its original green logic daughterboard attached (Model BDP-020/025). As with all original CUH-11xx series consoles, this board is cryptographically "married" to my original console's motherboard chip.
Because of Sony's hardware lock, you cannot just plug this entire drive directly into your PS4. If you do, you will receive error CE-35888-2 and the console will refuse to play games or update.
To use this replacement drive correctly, you must choose one of these two options:
  1. Transfer your original board: Unscrew and remove the logic daughterboard from your current broken drive, and install it onto this new mechanical drive chassis.
  2. Desolder the IC chip: Desolder your original console's main controller chip and solder it onto this drive's daughterboard.
