In 1915, "Heroes and Heroic Deeds of the Great War" referred to acts of immense bravery during World War I, exemplified by figures like Lance Corporal Albert Jacka, the first Australian Victoria Cross recipient for single-handedly defending a trench at Gallipoli, and Subedar Manta Singh Johal, who rescued an injured comrade under heavy fire at Neuve Chapelle. The year saw widespread enlistment, patriotic fervor, and stories of leadership (Kitchener, Joffre) and everyday soldiers' courage, captured in popular books like D.A. Mackenzie's, highlighting valor amidst the new horrors of trench warfare and the early stages of the conflict.

Key Examples of Heroic Deeds in 1915

Albert Jacka (Australia): Awarded the Victoria Cross for his extraordinary courage at Courtney's Post, Gallipoli, holding off a Turkish assault and taking prisoners despite being outnumbered, inspiring "Jack's Mob".

Manta Singh Johal (India): A Sikh soldier who carried his wounded English officer, Lieutenant George Henderson, to safety under machine-gun fire during the Battle of Neuve Chapelle, demonstrating immense bravery.

General Joffre & Kitchener: Figures of leadership and steadfastness, known as "Silent Joffre" and "Silent Kitchener," who embodied the resolve of their nations.

Fighting Flying-Men & Seamen: Accounts also celebrated daring feats by airmen and courageous actions by sailors against sea-raiders, expanding the concept of heroism beyond the trenches.

Please note: We can get your package out the door in a timely manner, but shipping is running very slowly at the moment, especially for first class packages. Please be patient.

PLEASE READ OUR TERMS BEFORE BIDDING:

Missouri residents must add 4.75% sales tax.

We are glad to combine multiple purchases for savings on shipping.  If you purchase more than one item from us, please wait to pay until we send you an eBay invoice with the correct shipping amount.  We print the USPS postage through the eBay system, so your package will be shipped to you exactly as it appears in your eBay account. We will not ship to alternate addresses.  We have learned this the hard way, with a few bad apples asking to have items sent to a different address, claiming that they have moved, etc. then using PayPal and eBay to end up with both the item and the money.   If you really have moved recently, then you need to update your eBay and PayPal accounts.

Payment: We ask successful bidders to remit payment within 10 days of auction end.

International Buyers please note: Import duties, taxes, and charges aren't included in the item price or postage cost. These charges are the buyer's responsibility. Please check with your country's customs office to determine what these additional costs will be prior to bidding or buying. Customs forms are automatically filled out by ebay, and the value of an item cannot be changed in order to avoid customs fees.

Questions: We are glad to answer any questions you might have to the best of our ability, except for "What Size is it?" on historical uniforms.  (We sell uniforms as collectibles, not costumes.)  Otherwise, for all other questions ask away!  We will answer as soon as possible.  If we are out of the office or closed for the evening, we will answer as soon as we can after we return.

Is there a Buy It Now Price:  No. Sorry, but our office policy is to not end auctions early. We will consider reasonable offers for the BIN listings, however we do not make trades.

Guarantee: Items may be returned a refund of the purchase price if you believe them not to be as described.  (Shipping charges are not refunded.)  The only exceptions are items that you alter - (don't 'clean', 'fix', or otherwise 'improve' an item and then return it) or uniform items returned for reasons of size.  We do not guarantee original items to fit you.

Thanks for looking!

I hope that we can do business with you.  If you have any questions, please feel free to ask.
