Each pump comes on a fitted UK plug, with the rubber elbow and hose clamps needed to connect it.

What sets the alarm off?
Loss of pressure in the airline. A split or disconnected pipe, a worn diaphragm or a stopped pump will all do it. The sensor switches at around 0.04 bar, against a normal running pressure of 0.10 to 0.15 bar. It signals two ways at once, a buzzer and a red LED beacon.
Can I silence the alarm without stopping the pump?
Yes. The switch has three positions, TEST, MUTE and RUN. Set it to RUN once installed. TEST proves the buzzer sounds, MUTE silences it while the pump carries on running.
How noisy is it?
They are designed for low noise and are quiet considering the output, but not silent. They produce a hum at 40 to 45 dB.
Can I use it outdoors?
Charles Austen describe the ETA series as weather-resistant but publish no IP rating. Avoid siting the pump itself outdoors if possible. Otherwise protection from weather, dust and moisture should be provided with a suitable enclosure in a sheltered spot. Plenty of space and ventilation is required to prevent heat build-up. Always use an electrical supply installed by a qualified electrician.
Is it serviceable?
Yes, the filter element washes out and the diaphragm is user-replaceable with service kits available. Clean the filter at least every six months, more often somewhere dusty. The manufacturer recommends a service at least every 18 months.
Why is my air output lower than the table says?
The quoted output is measured at the pump’s rated pressure. Anything that adds back pressure reduces it - deeper diffusers, longer or narrower airline, sharp bends, and air stones that have silted up. Larger bore pipe, gentle bends and clean stones all help.
What happens if I run it with the outlet closed?
Excess back pressure shortens the life of the pump through overheating and stressing the diaphragm. Never fully close the outlet while the pump is running and avoid working it at excess depth or with restricted outputs. If you want less air at one stone, balance the run with inline valves rather than restricting the pump itself.
Can water flow back up the pipe to the pump?
Yes, and it will damage the pump. Back syphoning is a risk whenever the pump can sit at or below the water level, in which case non-return valves are essential to protect it. Site it above the water line and fit a non-return valve to the airlines. Inexpensive valves are available separately in our shop.
