This listing is for a nice polished slice of stromatolite from the Archaean of South Africa. Some of the earliest microfossils have been recorded from the Barberton Greenstone Belt. Various types of filamentous microorganisms have been recorded and we have found them in the black layers of this material. They are most clearly seen when thin sectioned, but we have found them just viewing similar slices under the microscope (magnification of 80x and greater is recommended as they are obviously tiny).
