 Their motto ‘Never Copy, Only Create’ has a particular resonance when considering the extraordinarily creative wristwatches that have been produced by La Maison Cartier. A perfect example of their brilliance is the creation of the Santos Dumont, which is without doubt, Cartier’s most significant model. Importantly, the Santos is the first watch ever designed to be worn on the wrist, made specifically for Brazilian pilot Alberto Santos Dumont. 

This 18ct white gold example has taken inspiration from that original design, and modernised it with larger proportions and a beautifully curved case. The DNA from the 1904 example can still be seen in the classic Roman Numeral hour markers, curved lugs, and a thin case that can slip under a shirt cuff. This reference rarely comes up for sale in this condition, having just been serviced and fitted with a brand new strap it’s certainly a collectors example. Being crafted from solid 18ct white gold, it’s a ‘stealth wealth’ piece that can fly under the radar - those who know, know! It is art on the wrist and elevates your wardrobe to the next level of opulence and luxury. 

This Santos 2789 features a beautifully proportioned case that measures 30 x 38mm, like most Cartier watches it is designed to be sleek and refined on the wrist - after all it is a dress piece. The dial itself is a crisp white, with contrasting black Roman Numeral hour markers and a subtle ‘Cartier Swiss’ text on the dial. There are dashes of blue colour from the Stainless Steel heat treated hands, which perfectly matches the cabochon encrusted crown. At the beating heart of this piece is a Swiss made high precision Cartier signed quartz movement, thankfully not requiring manual winding - you can ‘set it and forget it’. Affixing the head of the watch to the wrist is a brand new Crocodile strap with impressive large grains, it’s the strap that was originally designed for this model by La Maison themselves. Fastening the piece in place is the original solid 18ct white gold deployant buckle that is adjustable for your comfort. There is of course a scratch resistant sapphire crystal and 30m water resistance for peace of mind. 

The cosmetic condition is excellent, the photographs speak for themselves. This piece just had a complete service in Cartier in April 2025, as such it is in the best possible cosmetic condition, and mechanically it is of course running perfectly. The remainder of the 2 year mechanical warranty is transferred with the watch to the new buyer for added peace of mind. The photos speak for themselves, this watch is art on the wrist.

Along with the watch itself comes a Cartier pouch, the Cartier service card, an invoice for your purchase and a certificate showing the serial has a clean history against the lost/stolen registries.
