Scarce and highly collectible original first printing concert poster advertising JAZZ FROM NEWPORT '76 staged at De Doelen in Rotterdam [Holland] from 5th to 7th November, 1976, presented by Paul Acket and Mojo. Performing artists included the Sonny Rollins Quintet, the McCoy Tyner Sextet, the Gil Evans Orchestra, American singer Roberta Flack, Dutch tenor saxophonist Hans Dulfer, and the great Rahsaan Roland Kirk. The previous year Kirk had suffered a major stroke which led to partial paralysis of one side of his body. He continued to perform and record, modifying his instruments to enable him to play with one arm. At a live performance at Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club in London he even managed to play two instruments, and carried on to tour internationally and to appear on television. He died from a second stroke after performing in the Frangipani Room of the Indiana University Student Union in Bloomington, Indiana on 5th December, 1977, aged 42.

The poster is HUGE and measures 82.7 x 115.6 cm (approx. 32.6" by 45.5" inches) and is beautifully printed in red and black inks on thin, coated paper stock. Neatly folded thrice with light wear along the fold lines. Would frame beautifully. Please see all supersized images below for the exact condition of the poster. Guaranteed 100% original.
