The painting depicts a Venetian canal scene and is signed along the lower left corner, seen magnified in picture 5. The painting is in very good overall condition with no major damage to mention. There is light varnish yellowing but no paint losses, damage to the board, or in-painting. There are significant frame losses in each of the corners, with the top left corner of the frame seen magnified in picture 6. The frame measures roughly 16.25" x 14.25", with the image measuring roughly 10.75" x 8.5". Below is some information about the artist who has auction results up to $10,894. Albert Ferdinand Duprat (1882-1974) was born in Venice, Italy and studied at the School of Fine Art there. He specialised in painting urban landscapes and water scenes in a post-impressionist style. Throughout his career he found an abundance of subject matter in his native Venice and a lot of his painting finds its inspiration from the waterways of this great city.

Duprat also turned to Paris for inspiration, and painted many pictures along the banks of the Seine. His style was very pioneering and his use of textured paint to convey ripples on the water quite unique.

He features regularly in auctions and his work is represented in museums at Aix-en Provence, Brest and Laval.
