Gibson [Exclusive Model] Les Paul Standard '50s Plain Top Bourbon Burst #233650002 [4.48kg]
Exclusive Model (Model produced for overseas dealers)!
A plain-top Les Paul Standard!
The classic Les Paul Standard has established itself as a staple model since its initial release.
Currently, two types are available in the lineup: the "50s" series, which reproduces the specifications of the 1950s, and the "60s" series, which reproduces the specifications of around 1960.
This particular model reproduces the specifications of around 1959, featuring a moderately thick neck grip and a thick sound with emphasized bass.
The set-neck construction, similar to violins and acoustic guitars, and the two-layer body construction of a maple top and mahogany back are key to the deep, rich tone characteristic of the Les Paul.
The solid construction, which eliminates the weight relief used in recent years, results in a more vintage-flavored, robust sound.
The clean tone is slightly scooped and has good sound pressure, and even when distorted, the sound retains its definition, making it suitable for various genres from jazz to hard rock.
In 1957, the "P.A.F." was introduced and the specifications of the "Les Paul" were established. Initially, it featured a gold top finish, and in 1958, the name was changed to "Les Paul Standard," adopting the cherry sunburst color. The 1959 model is particularly popular, and remains the most popular reissue model from the Custom Shop.
The neck shape is a C-shape, actually scanned from a vintage guitar, and can be said to be the closest neck shape to the current "Les Paul Standard 50s."
Unlike the thick and uncomfortable D-shape of yesteryear, it's a clean C-shape with a moderate thickness, similar to the shape of the current Gibson Custom Shop 1958 Les Paul.
The 1959 shape has almost the same thickness, but the edges are slightly beveled, giving it a slightly V-shape-like impression within the C-shape. This guitar features Burstbucker 1 and 2 pickups, also used in Gibson Custom Shop models, resulting in a distinctive sound with moderate power and sustain. When playing chords, it has a slightly muddy tone, revealing a bluesy side—a classic Les Paul sound.
The circuit board wiring has been eliminated, replaced by hand-wired components, and an Orange Drop capacitor is used in the tone circuit.
Compared to ceramic capacitors, the sound has a smoother, more rounded tone, with noticeable richness and depth.
The finish is a traditional nitrocellulose lacquer, meaning the finish will age beautifully over time.
The Les Paul Standard—a guitar everyone dreams of owning! Why not try one out?!
