Antique NIPPON (pre 1921 Japan) Hand Painted and Gold Moriage Beaded Rim with Ruffled Edge Porcelain Trinket Unusual Shape Pin, Vanity, Candy, Pretty Hand Soap, or even a small Candle Dish
This antique Nippon hand-painted is a beautiful addition to any collection. The unusual shape and ruffled edge and finger handle make it a lovely vanity or table-top piece as a pin, trinket, perfume bottle, or even a candle holder. The hand painting is in very nice condition with elegant dark burgundy and gold yellow roses and buds painted inside and out. The interior has a dark green background; the exterior is white. The overall effect of this piece is one of feminine elegance and beauty.
This porcelain hand painted dish is marked with a Nippon stamp on the bottom; dating it prior to 1921. An unusual shape, it measures approximately 5.5 - 6" across each direction and is about 1.5" deep. With the hand painting and delicate gold moriage beaded edge work, it is a unique OOAK and special item to display.
Condition: For a 100 or so year old piece it is in very good condition. There is scant paint wear in the bowl where the white porcelain shows through from the very dark green contrast, and the gold rim shows spotty wear of the gold. The exterior shows 2 vertical craze lines, that over time have discolored to show their age (see close up photo). These are solid, not cracks through the porcelain, just in the surface glaze layer and do not affect the integrity of the piece. Sitting on a table-top or vanity they aren't even noticed.
