Up for sale is a vintage 1960s Dynacord Echocord Super 62a tube tape echo. This unit is being sold strictly "As-Is / For Parts or Repair" as a bench project.
A significant amount of work and restoration work on this machine has been done, but it currently lacks repeats/reverb and requires a final bit of expert troubleshooting to get the tape playback fully operational.
What Has Been Done & What Works:
Recapped: Most of the main electrolytic capacitors have been replaced, stabilizing the power section and main circuitry.
Excellent Dry Signal: The unit passes a beautifully strong, warm, all-tube dry instrument signal from instrument 2 input only!
Functional Preamp & Magic Eye: The input preamp stage is fully functional. The EM84 "Magic Eye" tube responds perfectly and dances dynamically to the incoming audio signal.
Tape Transport: The mechanical tape path runs smoothly and reliably. The heads have been fully cleaned, and it includes 10 brand new tape loops.
Pro 1/4-Inch Mod: The outdated, unpractical European DIN jacks have been upgraded to professional-looking 1/4-inch input and output jacks, making it ready for modern guitars, studios, and audio interfaces without adapters.
The Issues / What It Needs:
No Repeats / No Reverb: the wet effect signal is not currently playing back.
Instrument 1 volume pot: broken and depending on setting can create a squeal (even when using other instrument inputs).
Tubes Included: Comes with a valuable set of vintage German tubes (including 5x ECC83, 1x ECC82, 1x EM84).
This is a legendary tape delay that is about 85% of the way to being fully restored. Perfect project for a guitar amp tech, vintage studio gear builder, or tape echo enthusiast looking for an easy win on the workbench.
Shipping & Terms:
Sold strictly As-Is with no returns due to the described project nature of the unit. It will be packed safely and securely with plenty of padding to protect the vintage transformers and tubes. Please review the photos for cosmetic condition and feel free to ask any questions.
