Melikhov Georgy Stepanovich (1908–1985)

  Born in Kharkiv. He graduated from the Kharkiv Art Institute (1941), where he studied under P. Volodikin, F. Krichevsky, S. Grigoriev, and K. Eleva. He taught at the Kharkiv Art Institute (1945–1961) and served as a professor (1960). Secretary of the Board of the Union of Artists of the USSR (1956–1960), Honored Artist of the Ukrainian SSR, People’s Artist of the Ukrainian SSR (1967),  laureate of the Stalin State Prize of the USSR (1948), associate professor (1948). His works are in the museum of Ukraine they are exhibited on the auctions and the western galleries. Active in Kyiv
