Offered here is an original Broadway window card for Head Over Heels, the colorful jukebox musical featuring the music of the legendary pop band The Go-Go’s. This example measures the standard 14 x 22 inches and has been professionally mounted to a wooden backing frame with hanging wire, making it immediately ready for wall display.

The design is one of the most visually striking Broadway graphics of the late 2010s. A bold yellow background frames a bright pink heart pierced by arrows, with the hand-lettered title across the center and a royal crown beneath. The vibrant palette and playful pop-art style perfectly reflect the show’s blend of Elizabethan comedy and 1980s pop music.

At the bottom margin the card lists key creative credits including conceived and original book by Jeff Whitty, adapted by James Magruder, music supervision, orchestrations and arrangements by Tom Kitt, choreography by Spencer Liff, and direction by Michael Mayer. The Hudson Theatre credit confirms its Broadway run.

The window card has been mounted to a wood frame backing with hanging wire, allowing it to be displayed immediately without additional framing. Condition appears excellent with bright color and clean presentation, with the mounting providing additional stability for long-term display.

PRODUCTION & HISTORICAL CONTEXT

Head Over Heels opened on July 26, 2018 at the Hudson Theatre on Broadway, following previews beginning June 23. The production closed on January 6, 2019 after 188 performances and 37 previews.

The musical was conceived and originally written by Jeff Whitty and adapted by playwright James Magruder, loosely inspired by Sir Philip Sidney’s 16th-century pastoral romance The Arcadia. The score features hit songs by The Go-Go’s, including “Vacation,” “We Got the Beat,” “Our Lips Are Sealed,” and “Heaven Is a Place on Earth.”

Direction was by Michael Mayer, with choreography by Spencer Liff. Musical supervision, orchestrations, and arrangements were by Tom Kitt. Scenic design was by Julian Crouch, costume design by Arianne Phillips, lighting design by Kevin Adams, and sound design by Kai Harada.

The original Broadway cast featured Bonnie Milligan, Andrew Durand, Taylor Iman Jones, Jeremy Kushnier, Rachel York, Peppermint, Tom Alan Robbins, Alexandra Socha, and Jonathan Hadary.

Despite strong creative credentials and a devoted fan following, the production struggled commercially and ultimately ran under 200 performances, making it a comparatively short-lived Broadway musical of the modern era.

WHY THIS IS A STRONG COLLECTOR PIECE

While Head Over Heels did not achieve a long Broadway run, that limited engagement has made original advertising materials from the production increasingly interesting to theatre collectors. Many Broadway enthusiasts actively collect memorabilia from notable flops and short-lived productions, which often become cult favorites over time.

The show also holds cultural significance for its inclusive casting and LGBTQ representation, including performer Peppermint, the first openly transgender woman to originate a principal role in a Broadway musical.

The window card’s vivid graphic design, combined with the show’s relatively brief Broadway life, makes it an appealing piece for collectors focused on modern Broadway history, cult musicals, and distinctive poster art.

Additionally, the ready-to-hang wood mounting adds display appeal for collectors who want an immediate wall piece without the cost of custom framing.
