Scarce and highly collectible large original first printing concert poster advertising British progressive jazz-rock band Colosseum II at the Volksbildungsheim in Frankfurt [Germany] on Wednesday, 4th May, 1977, presented by Manana Music, and with Vampires as special guests. Colosseum II were touring in support of Electric Savage, the band’s second album, produced by Jon Hiseman and released in June 1977 on MCA Records. After disappointing sales of their first album, Strange New Flesh, bassist Neil Murray left and singer Mike Starrs was sacked in July 1976. Bass player John Mole was brought in for the recording of Electric Savage, but the largely instrumental album was not commercially scuccessful. With a line-up consisting of Hiseman, Gary Moore, Don Airey and John Cole, War Dance was released in November 1977, also by MCA. However, in August 1978, Moore left to rejoin Thin Lizzy, and Airey’s brother Keith Airey replaced him on guitar. Plans for a fourth album fell through when Don Airey decided to join Rainbow in December 1978.

The poster measures 59.1 x 83.7 cm (approx. 23.3" by 33" inches) and is beautifully printed on thin, smooth-finish uncoated paper stock. The poster has been folded horizontally at the middle, else in excellent unmarked condition.
