Grebo mask. Old room over 40 years old. Delivered on base.
The Grebo masks were broadcast in Paris very early on. In particular, they attracted the attention of Picasso which had a collection of African masks and which was inspired by a Grebo mask, bought around 1908, to make in 1912 its famous guitar work, the first cubist sculpture.
Male masks with geometric shapes are often recognizable by their long nose framed by one, two or more pairs of protruding eyes of tubular shape, sometimes threatening. The features of female masks are softer, more harmonious and more serene.
