FOR SALE: Askey RT5010W four-port Gigabit (LAN) / 2.5-gig (WAN) router/firewall running OpenWrt.
The device has been rebranded by a major U.S. ISP (a previous version of this listing has been flagged by that ISP for supposedly using their name in a way that infringes on their trademark, so in this version, they shall remain unnamed; the model number assigned by that ISP was SAX1V1K). The stock firmware locked the device onto a single Internet service (including the provider's mobile app, which was intended to be the primary means of management). We have replaced the stock firmware with OpenWrt, an open-source firmware for networking equipment, so now the device can be managed entirely on-device (no app needed, doesn't matter what service it is used with). Unlike stock firmware, OpenWrt is expected to receive updates as long as the device is capable of storing and running it.
To test the device and make port functions consistent with on-device labeling, we made a few changes to the initial OpenWrt configuration. A detailed configuration booklet will be provided to the buyer. Alternatively, the buyer could simply reset the firmware to its initial state.
The device runs on a Qualcomm IPQ8072A processor (quad-core, 2.2 GHz) with 2 GB of RAM. There are three Gigabit LAN ports in a switch configuration; the single WAN port is 2.5-gig. Wireless networking is dual-band (wireless adapters are Qualcomm QCN5024 and Qualcomm QCN5054); each band is capable of 4x4 AX.
The device is implemented in a tower form factor. The case is black plastic.
The device is actively cooled (the intake openings are on the bottom of the device, the grill on the top is the exhaust). Under normal operating conditions, the fan is off.
The device is in good physical condition (please review the photos; note that we are listing multiple devices, so the device you receive may or may not be the one pictured). A power supply unit is included.
