This is a lot of 6 Bachmann 1301 / 1301:700 HO Scale Amtrak Metroliner Dummy Coaches. They are used and in varying conditions as further described below. Based on the box styles, these appear to be from multiple runs over the years. These are all in what appear to be their original boxes some of which show definite signs of age. Certain boxes are a style that has a foldable flap with a peg hole (never been punched out) so the box could be hung from a wall hanger rather than sit on a shelf for selling. These all have blue tinted windows as well as visible seats. Four cars have plastic wheels and metal axles while two cars have metal wheels and axles. The wheels roll relatively freely. Each
model was also tested alone on a short segment of straight and 24" radius curve
track to determine how well the car rolls when pushed a long. All have a pantograph but the pantographs are not a type that could conduct electricity. Horns and other roof details are present on all models.
Metroliner 1: Pantograph springs and works just fine, both stirrups present, no couplers or coupler boxes. There is a small dip on the roof, paint and decaling do not appear to have scratches. Wheels roll freely. The chassis appears to be sagging but the car rolled fine when tested.
Metroliner 2: Pantograph springs and works just fine, both stirrups present. One coupler is missing. The other end has extended type coupler, neither horn hook nor knuckle. Paint and decaling do not appear to have scratches. The chassis is fractured and sagging but the car rolled when tested without any issues. The effect of the fractured chassis when the car is part of a consist at a higher speed is definitely unknown.
Metroliner 3: Pantograph springs and works just fine. Both stirrups missing. One coupler is a horn hook type and appears to be a modification made to the car. The other coupler is an extended type, neither horn hook nor knuckle style. There are a couple of areas where the paint has been scratched/scuffed. The chassis appears to be sagging and bulging but the car rolled fine when tested. There is a panel on the bottom of the chassis that was detached but it appears to now be secure. The styrofoam cradle is torn.
Metroliner 4: Pantograph springs and works just fine. One stirrup is missing. There is a horn hook style coupler on both ends that spring pretty well. The paint and decaling appear to be fine. The car rolled fine when tested. Part of the styrofoam cradle has been cut away.
Metroliner 5: The pantograph on this one is broken but it looks like the broken part could be easily glued back so the pantograph could be in the up position. Both stirrups are missing. The trucks on this car do not appear to be original. The wheels and axle are metal and the car is wired for lighting. The interior lighting does not stay on constantly but it flickers, other times it stays constant. The horn hook couplers are truck mounted. The car rolled fine without any issues when tested.
Metroliner 6: The pantograph on this one does not spring like others. It is pretty tight but it goes up and down just fine. Both stirrups are missing. The wheels and axles are metal but the car does not appear to be wired for lighting. The trucks themselves might not be original. This car has knuckle couplers on each end but one of the couplers is broken and does not spring very well. The couplers are mounted to the bottom of the car and that mounting appears to be a modification of what would have been found originally on this car.
