For sale is a vintage ELEPHANT STEEL CLAM SHOVEL from the 1950's or 1960's.  Found at an Estate sale in the Portland, Oregon area.  The shovel shows all factory markings or both the handle and metal.  The shovel is in EXCELLENT PLUS condition and shows no damage or problems that I can see.  The overall length is 34 1/2".  The blade is 9" long.  Width of the blade near socket is 5" tapering down to 4".  The crimping and welding all looks fine.  (SEE PICTURES)  Metal shows markings on blade:  Pictures of standing elephant with the word STEEL below.  JAPAN on the socket.  The handle looks perfect with markings also on it.  STOCK NO. CO9  The handle also has a round stamp with JSH. Both are pictured and maybe I am wrong but it looks that way to me.  The wood handle has no nicks or missing wood and has nice grain patterns.  The feel of this shovel is perfect and is ready to use or display.  Thanks for looking
