This lovely antique Chinese chest appears to be from the late 19th century and is made of wood painted with red lacquer NOTE: this color is closer to a deep rusty orange color. It is 19.5” h x 16.25” w x 10.5d. It is quite heavy and sturdy with brass pulls and working hinges. It is covered with lovely carved and painted motifs of chrysanthemum flowers and leaves and other floral motifs. The colors are rich blues and teals, black and cream. There are two small drawers on the top and bottom (the top one is a bit stuck - I gently pried it open and once open slides easily.) The two cabinet doors open to reveal a rich black interior. There is even a working key for the cabinet in the bottom drawer! NOTE: there are areas where the finish has been damaged - please view all pictures carefully before purchasing.
This cabinet can be used for jewelry, to store you boudoir items and love letters, perfumes or any treasure of your choice.
