Presenting Astro Boy in the green and red. In it's breakthrough first Astro Boy featuring green and red uniform colourway appeared in Ambassador Atom in April of 1952. Whilst artwork goes back a couple of years before, initially Captain Atom, or Ambassador Atom, the character quickly became known as Astro Boy, in the series Mighty Atom, in the classic Red Belt with Green Trunks. Rumours have it the colours presented better with both ink printing and TV at the time, and both colours were popular uniform for Japanese super heros of the era. For a decade Astro Boy donned this outfit, changing to what we know now, with Green Belt and Black shorts in the early 1960s.
