just to avoid any confusion and make it clear the subwoofer cannot be used (as is) and needs to be fixed to be used and work properly… Cone tore apart from spider. Spider not Burnt
So I bought this used, though it was in like new or better condition and performed that way to. I believe it sat for a long time, unused somewhere for two reasons . One the exceptional condition it was in, But more soafter I had it hooked With a kicker 1800 in slot ported box that was within its specs Without a problem for about five months no problems. one day, I heard weird noise, but only at high volume and at certain frequencies, which quickly turned into I could not play it without hearing the noise unless it was very, very low to the point there was no point in using it. I bought another 15 But I kept this because the money I spent and not having it long, but also the unusual sound and it’s still working. Eventually, I got to looking at messing with it outside the box and realized that the Cone had ripped off away from the spider And where it didn’t rip away, it pulled a little piece of the cone off with it as well there was a plastic ring around I guess both of them or connecting them with the glue That clearly had cracked in a couple places, and some of the little ring were just gone, obviously. Which explained the weird noise and why it’s still worked.
well, I used UV light, resin, which worked well. The problem was there was a good amount of material missing between the cone and the spider plastic in a few places that I decided to just fill in with more resin And when I was done with that and glowing surround down, I was able to confirm that I glued the cone on crooked And didn’t evenly glue the surround down because it overlap at the end when I got it together and it’s been sitting since for the same reason I did before which is I’ve paid a lot of money didn’t get much use, but it still works.
so this should not be used as it is you’ll ruin something that isn’t all ready, but it works in regards to spider responds properly, There’s no smells. There’s nothing burnt. nothing overheated so the spider and mechanical aspect of the sub works. It just is broken/torn where the subwoofer connects to the cone and will have to be properly fixed or replace the cone. That might be the same thing as it doesn’t work, it needs to be completely rebuilt. I don’t know you see what I know about rebuilding subwoofers.
