Offered here is an original painting by Philippine artist Fortunato Jervoso, circa 1940s or '50s. Painting is oil on canvas and measures ~16 X 19 1/2 inches. Includes original mahogany frame with overall size of ~20 x 23 1/2 inches.

Fortunato Jervoso (1913-2006)
Born in Pasay City, Philippines, he worked his way up under extreme conditions. He studied art through the International Correspondence School in Philadelphia, from 1934 to 1937. While studying, one of his works was made a cover of the Philadelphia Free Press, showing a young boy holding a miniature battleship and airplane while at his back is Uncle Sam holding his chin, contemplating on the coming 3rd Anniversary of the Philippine Commonwealth. In 1954, he won an award in the Marian National Art Competition for his work "Madonna & Child". In addition to painting, he bcame well known for his metalwork and some of his works were included in a travelling exhibition that docked in Brooklyn. He also painted murals for the President Lines.
