comes this stunning original oil painting entitled Mimbres Man. The painting features the profile of a Native American man from one of the earliest known advanced Pueblo Indian civilizations, the Mimbres group (Circa 500 to 1000 AD) of southwestern New Mexico. The man is wearing ceremonial head feathers, a turquoise earring, and white and black face paint, which may have several interpretations.
An archaeological enigma, records of the highly artistic Mimbres people abruptly cease around AD 1130 to 1150 when they are thought to have migrated out of the area or met insurmountable drought and other challenges. The ethereal beauty of Ken Gary's Mimbres Man may be suggestive of this mystery.

ABOUT THE ARTIST: Ken Gary is a master artist, painter, and illustrator whose paintings have been shown in galleries and exhibits across the Southwest. He has illustrated a number of important books on Hopi language and culture, including Hopi Animal Stories, Hopi Stories of Witchcraft, Shamanism and Magic, and Earth Fire: A Hopi Legend of the Sunset Crater Eruption, among others.
Ken Gary was a prolific illustrator whose work is widely published. He reserved this and other special paintings for select exhibits and kept them in his private collection. We are honored and pleased to present this rare and unique art work for your consideration.
