Ares Ludovisi Grand Tour Bronze Kabinett Bronze Skulptur 1860
Ein hervorragendes Muster für Musterkunden Fein ausgeführte und seltene Kabinettbronze aus der Grand Tour-Periode, entstanden in Italien um 1860. Die Skulptur zeigt den sogenannten Ares Ludovisi, nach dem berühmten marmornem Standbild aus Rom. Das vorliegende Exemplar misst 11 cm in der Höhe und zeichnet sich durch einen sehr detailreichen und präzisen Guss aus. Wie bei vergleichbaren Bronzen häufig zu beobachten, fehlt der Schwertgriff.
Das Vorbild, der sogenannte Ares Ludovisi, ist eine Marmorskulptur aus dem 2. Jahrhundert n. Chr., die als römische Kopie einer heute verlorenen griechischen Statue gilt. Das zugrundeliegende Original wird in die frühe hellenistische Epoche, in das letzte Drittel des 4. Jahrhunderts v. Chr., datiert und stilistisch mit dem Umfeld der spätklassischen Bildhauer Skopas oder Lysipp in Verbindung gebracht.
Description: Finely executed and rare cabinet bronze from the Grand Tour period, produced in Italy circa 1860. The sculpture depicts the so called Ares Ludovisi, after the renowned marble statue discovered in Rome. The present example measures 11 cm in height and is distinguished by a highly detailed and refined casting. As is commonly observed in comparable bronzes, the sword hilt is absent.
The prototype, known as the Ares Ludovisi, is a marble statue dating to the 2nd century CE, created as a Roman copy of a now lost Greek original. The underlying work is generally attributed to the early Hellenistic period, in the last third of the 4th century BCE, and is stylistically associated with the circle of the late Classical sculptors Skopas or Lysippos
