A rare interesting, detailed and ornate map is from The English Counties in The Nineteenth Century by Thomas Moule, published by Virtue, London, 1838.

It is an original engraved map which is printed on one side only and measures 27 cm x 22 cm or 10x 8". This is an original antique which is over 185 years old.

Thomas Moule (1784–1851) was an English antiquarian, writer on heraldry, and a significant mapmaker in Victorian England.

He is particularly known for his popular and highly decorative county maps of England. These maps were steel-engraved and initially published separately between 1830 and 1832. Later, the collection was published in book form as "The English Counties Delineated."

Moule's maps are distinctive for their elaborate and ornamental style, often featuring vignette views of notable buildings and historical elements within each county, framed by decorative borders and heraldic devices. This artistic approach set them apart from the more utilitarian maps of the period.
