1982 VB22L ATH Honda Carburetor.  

Carbs are for Honda with MANUAL TRANSMISSION. 


Research shows Carbs are correct and originally shipped from factory on 1982 CB450T (A) HAWK BIKES.  

Jets are: #108, 70, 38 


Rundown:: Carbs disassembled, parts degreased, Berryman wash, Ultrasonic Cleaned, inspected and Vapor Polished (Honed).

Carbs have serviceable parts and are complete. All parts came apart and put back together.

Most screws replaced using correct OEM JIS (Japanese Industrial Standards).

Jets were removed, Cleaned, and Measured and re-installed.  

Slow Jets are screw in.  They were removed cleaned, measured and re-installed.  

All springs are present and correctly installed.

Throttle shafts were removed, cleaned and lubricated. Felt seals were lubricated. Locktite used on screws. Removing the Throttle & Choke Shafts are an important step when a carb is Vapor Honed.  Ensures fine media is removed before assembly and doesn't bind moveable parts. Takes time to remove shafts, but I feel it's best to check status of shafts and seals.  Also allows thorough cleaning of these critical areas.  Over the years have rebuilt many carbs where shafts were seized or seal disintegrated.

Internal slide, slide cover and carb body polished so slide glides freely.  

Slides have 61A needles.   

Jets and Jet Holders cleaned and all passages blown out with carb cleaner and compressed air.

Brass inlet fuel float valves cleaned & polished and float needles replaced using SS needles from Taiwan not China.

Float bowls were leak checked.  Float Bowl vent tubes have no cracks (no leaks).

Float Bowl Gaskets replaced.

Fuel input Tube and Accelerator Tubes have new o-rings (4X).


Accelerator Fuel Diaphragm, spring, o-ring, and rod gaiter replaced. Circuit was tested to ensure FULL flow of fuel on demand. 

Air cut-off valve diaphragms, o-ring, and springs replaced.  Covers Tested to ensure not clogged.


Carbs Bench sync'd.  

Pilot/mixture screw o-rings and washers replaced.

Pilot jet screws set to 1 1/2 turns from seated position. Adjust after at least 10 minutes driving/warm-up, if required.

Rust inhibitor used on a few exterior parts

Be sure to use a good new fuel filter before putting carb into service.

Make sure gas tank is not contaminated. Using non ethanol fuel for old bikes should extend the carb service life 

This carb is ready to install.  Enjoy.
