CNS Yichang (564) is a Type 053H3 (Jiangwei-II class) guided-missile frigate of the People‘s Liberation Army Navy (PLAN). She was built by Guangzhou Shipbuilders and commissioned in December 1999. The ship is named after the city of Yichang in Hubei Province.

Following China’s naval modernization, Yichang (564) has been transferred from front-line service to a training squadron, where she now focuses on crew instruction and tactical drills. She was originally assigned to the East Sea Fleet and later served with the North Sea Fleet.

Aircraft: Capable of operating one Harbin Z-9C helicopter from its stern hangar and flight deck.

Operational history: CNS Yichang participated in the International Fleet Review celebrating the centenary of Australia‘s federation in Sydney, October 2001. She has also conducted multiple live-fire training exercises in the Yellow Sea.
