A superb and rare pair of Japanese Satsuma vases from the late Edo period, executed in fine gosu blue.

Each vase features an unusual square-form body raised on four legs, giving the pair a distinctive and elegant presence. The surfaces are richly decorated with intricate floral, symbolic, and ornamental motifs, complemented by vibrant polychrome accents on the upper sections and feet.

The workmanship is of exceptional quality, with finely detailed decoration throughout.

Condition is excellent, with no losses, damage, or restorations. The vases are unsigned but attributed to Chin Jukan XII.

A very rare and desirable pair, seldom found in this form and quality.
