Vintage MIKIMOTO Double Strand Graduated Akoya Pearl Necklace, 17"
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
A timeless Mikimoto double pearl necklace from the mid-20th century, c1960! This elegant pearl necklace comprises two graduated strands of one hundred and ninety-six lustrous Akoya pearls.
Each pearl is meticulously calibrated from 7.10mm largest at the front, working its way down to 3.60mm near the clasp. The pearls exhibit a remarkable surface lustre, a hallmark of the superior quality associated with the renowned Mikimoto brand. Each well-matched pearl showcases a beautiful creamy white hue with lovely hints of rose, indicative of the older top-quality nacre.
At a classic 17" (average) princess length, the two strands drape perfectly apart on the neckline with one strand measuring 43.50cm (95 pearls) and the slightly longer strand measuring 44.50cm (101 pearls).
A sterling silver Akoya pearl accented, and flower embossed clasp completes the pearl necklace - signed with Mikimoto's signature "M" in a clamshell frame to the reverse of the clasp.
An heirloom-quality treasure from the legendary Japanese pearl house, perfect for any refined collection; it would also make a perfect bridal piece, too!
*Presented in a jewellery box and a photo purchase report.
