This really nice HO gauge loco by Roco is a DR E44 electric locomotive in weathered grey livery. It has running number E44 106.
The electric locomotives of the E 44 series (from 1968 for the DB series 144 and from 1970 for the DR series 244 ) were designed by Walter Reichel in 1930 and, with their concept as multi-purpose locomotives that could be used in freight and passenger transport, the first machines were put into service by the Deutsche Reichsbahn-Gesellschaft in 1932. They were primarily intended for the route from Augsburg via the Geislinger Steige to Stuttgart , which was newly electrified from 1933. The last units went out of service in the 1990s.
Some remain in preservation
The loco is in very good condition as you can see in the pictures, it is tested and runs with working lights. A service, and more running, is recommended to ensure smooth running, as the loco has been sat on the shelf for a long time. A complete external visual inspection has shown the overall condition is very good. It comes complete with its box. The box is in good if slightly shelf worn condition.
Overall this is a really nice scale locomotive and would look fantastic on a layout.
Do please have a look at our other listings, we typically have various HO and OO locos on offer as well as an extensive range of imported N gauge locos and other items.
Note: we do recommend all locos are cleaned & serviced, as they have some age to them even if the quality looks at the highest level (fairly standard advice for all locos!).
