The Gibson Custom Shop Murphy Lab Collection was announced in 2021.
The Murphy Lab Collection, including the Les Paul Standard, is the "ultimate vintage reissue" that utilizes the latest technology based on scientific verification to age new guitars, giving them the look and feel of vintage instruments, and has received high praise from musicians and guitarists worldwide.
Then, in 2023, the long-awaited acoustic guitars were released from the Murphy Lab Collection, much to the delight of Gibson fans around the world.
Many were amazed not only by the superb aging technology but also by the high sound quality that is once again reminiscent of vintage instruments.
And now, in 2025, the ever-evolving Murphy Lab Acoustic Collection is adding a new lineup of models.
1929 Nick Lucas Special Light Aged
Gibson Custom is pleased to announce the release of the "1929 Nick Lucas Special Light Aged."
Based on classic artist models, the mahogany body features a significantly deeper profile than the Gibson L-00, resulting in an astonishingly deep tone. The bound body boasts multi-layered top and back binding with gold sparkle.
The top is made of thermally aged red spruce, and the L-2 style rosette also features gold sparkle, a distinctive visual feature of the Nick Lucas Special.
The mahogany neck has a 12-fret joint and a C-shape profile. The bound rosewood fingerboard features a mother-of-pearl Nick Lucas inlay.
The headstock is fitted with gold Waverly tuners with ivoroid oval buttons, and a vintage-style "The Gibson" logo is also a distinctive feature.
This is an opportunity to own one of Gibson's most distinctive-sounding acoustic guitars. A masterpiece of small-bodied design, it possesses remarkable depth and richness of tone. *Due to the nature of the lacquer, which is prone to cracking and chipping, natural weather checking may progress even after purchase, depending on the usage environment.
