All the components of this system originally retailed for around $500. The base station was upgraded to support a 4G SIM card.
Unit is in perfect working condition and had an active service subscription until recently. I changed alarm companies and no longer have a use for this unit.
You can use this either with or without a monthly subscription.
Without a subscription, you are limited to use of the keypad or fob only to arm/disarm the system.
With a paid subscription, you can control the alarm remotely on your smartphone, and also have SimpliSafe monitor your home remotely 24/7.
The system uses a cellular connection (not Wi-Fi) but the add-on camera does connect to Wi-Fi and can be viewed via the SimpliSafe app with or without a subscription.
Even without a subscription, this is still a great home security system to use for free. The base station chimes and alerts you when a door/window is opened. The alarm siren is very loud and will trigger when a sensor is activated. You can also get notifications sent to your phone if the camera triggers motion, all without paying a monthly fee.
