Antique Chinese lacquerware wooden wedding basket, which can also serve as a food or grain container or presentation box. Made during the late 19th to early 20th century, specifically in the late Qing era. The basket is probably crafted from elm or pear wood and features low relief figural carvings along with hand-painted floral motifs on the base.

The Chinese calligraphy on the lid loosely translates to "Fleeting Life," a common philosophical phrase in Chinese literature and art that describes the transient nature of human existence.
