Jacob's Ladder 'Purple Rain Strain'

Polemonium yezoense var. hidakanum

5cm Plant x 2

  • Dark purple-tinged foliage – the fern-like leaves emerge with a distinct purple flush and turn bronze in winter, offering great texture and colour contrast to plain green plants
  • Woodland charm – produces clusters of silky, violet-blue bell flowers in late spring and early summer that nod gracefully on upright stems, perfect for dappled shade
  • How to grow – plant in fertile, moist but well-drained soil in sun or light shade. Deadhead the faded flower spikes regularly to encourage a second flush of blooms later in summer
  • Herbaceous perennial – RHS H7 hardy, tolerates temperatures below -20°C; dies back to ground level in winter and regrows when conditions improve
  • Healthy plug plants – two well‑rooted 5cm plants, ideal for potting on to grow into larger specimens and planting into prepared ground once larger roots are established

Please note: our pictures illustrate a mature plant to inspire you with its full potential given time and the appropriate growing conditions. The plants you receive will be well-rooted to the specified size purchased and may look different depending on the time of year.

1) The plants are first removed from their plastic pot or cell tray. The roots are then submerged in water and wrapped in paper towel to ensure the plants have water on their journey.

2) After this, the plants are placed into biodegradable bags to retain the moisture and protect the outer packaging.

3) We then tightly roll the plants in a protective cardboard roll before placing them in their boxes for postage.
