This is an extremely versatile, elaborate and beautifully crafted early Point de Gaze décolleté collar, dating to around 1850 or earlier. The lace features a dainty, refined design typical of the period and is entirely handmade.
A lovely detail is the daisy‑petal filling stitches worked between the circular motifs. Every element of this lace is an individual unit of mesh, with all edges finished in fine buttonhole stitches—a hallmark of true Point de Gaze workmanship. This is a fabulous example of Georgian‑era lace, made completely by hand down to the last stitch. Measurements: Inner neckline: 18", Outer circumference: 23", Front neckline depth (center): just over 2". The collar is in great antique condition, especially for lace of this age. No issues noted—only a touch of gentle patina from time. It has been well preserved.
