Denon AVR-3808 AV Surround Receiver

A well-built Denon AVR-3808 home cinema receiver in black, supplied with its original box and useful accessories including both remotes and the Audyssey setup microphone. This was a high-end model in Denon’s 3800 series and remains a solid choice for anyone building a traditional surround sound system with multiple HDMI sources.

The receiver powers on correctly and outputs video via HDMI. The setup menus are accessible and working. Please note the condition details below, including a broken front panel hinge and a dim front display. Audio output has not been fully tested as I do not currently have speakers connected.

Key Features

Detailed Description

The Denon AVR-3808 was designed as a premium home cinema receiver and formed part of Denon’s well-regarded 3800 series. Built with a heavy chassis and high-power amplifier section, it was intended to deliver strong multi-channel performance for dedicated surround sound systems.

It supports modern HD audio formats such as Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio and provides multiple HDMI inputs, allowing several devices such as Blu-ray players, streaming boxes or games consoles to be connected through a single hub. The receiver can output video through HDMI while processing surround sound through a 7.1 speaker setup.

The AVR-3808 also includes Denon’s Audyssey room calibration system. Using the supplied microphone, the receiver can measure the acoustics of your room and automatically adjust speaker levels and timing for improved surround sound balance.

With both illuminated and standard remote controls included, along with the original packaging and microphone, this example would suit someone looking for a capable budget home cinema receiver or a spare unit for a secondary system.

This receiver is sold as a used vintage electronics item and has been tested within the limits described below.

Please review the photos carefully as they form part of the description and show the condition accurately.

As with most older AV receivers, some modern features found on newer equipment (such as 4K HDMI standards or ARC/eARC) may not be supported. Buyers should check compatibility with their intended equipment before purchase.

Vintage electronics can occasionally develop age-related issues over time. While the unit has been tested as described, it is sold as a used item and future reliability cannot be guaranteed.
