Most of these were pressed by Symposium Records (and later Historic Masters) on vinyl from the

original Phonotype metal parts (which were recorded by De Lucia in Naples between 1917-1922 ). 

Most have facsimile Phonotype labels. While these pressings are in as issued condition and many 

are potentially unplayed, they often look quite inferior as the original metal parts from which they 

were pressed had become discoloured with age. This is mostly a visual problem. The records are 

either originally 12" ( a matrix number preceded by "M") or 103/4" ( usually with a "C" prefix, 

here all pressed on 12" oversize format ). Some were reissued with no labels, mostly those where

the grooving was close to the centre, as well as some from the "Barbiere Di Siviglia" series.
