The optek-Danulat AF45-EX is an industrial-grade in-line photometric sensor designed for continuous, real-time measurement of UV or visible light absorption directly within a process pipe or vessel. This unit is the detector half (FM-D designation) of a source/detector pair, utilizing a through-pipe optical path. The large threaded polymer body mounts into a standard process tee or fitting, and the stainless steel detector head reads light transmitted across a defined optical gap. Output is a standard 4–20 mA analog signal proportional to absorbance or concentration, making it compatible with most industrial process controllers and data acquisition systems.
The "-EX" suffix and FM Approved label confirm this unit is rated for Class I, Division 1 hazardous locations, Groups A, B, C, and D, temperature classes T2–T6, with an ambient operating range of -30°C to +40°C (or +60°C per configuration). This hazardous area certification makes it suitable for deployment in environments with flammable vapors or gases — including solvent handling, API concentration loops, fermentation feed and outlet lines, CIP/cleaning validation circuits, and solvent recovery or waste streams.
The unit includes the original optek Sensorkabel blue process cable (approximately 2–3 meters estimated length) with bare wire termination leads. The optical lens on the sensor face is clean and intact. The stainless steel body and polymer hex mounting nut show normal industrial surface wear.
Note: This is the detector unit only. A compatible AF45-EX transmitter/source head is required for complete system operation and is not included.
