Description

Size :  about 24×28”(61×71cm)

Material : rayon 100%

Design : Ukiyo-e  AKAFUJI

This image shows a furoshiki or handkerchief with the motif of "Fine Wind, Clear Morning" (commonly known as "Red Fuji") from Katsushika Hokusai's ukiyo-e print "Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji."

FUROSHIKI  is a square cloth for wrapping and carrying things. It can be folded up for easy carrying, so it is very convenient. Furthermore, in addition to its original purpose of wrapping objects, it is also used as a room accessory  such as tapestries. There are Tango Chirimen crimps. The feel of touch is wonderful.
Recently, it has been used as a part of female fashion, and also as fabric for handicraft.

...............................................................................................................................................................................

The cloth is made in the Tango region, some 100 kilometers north of Kyoto and the largest kimono fabric producer in Japan. Produced fabrics are used for furoshiki and kimono.
