Traditional work of the Sénoufo ethnic group from the town of Korhogo and more particularly from the village of Fakaha, Korhogo canvases are painted with natural shades on sewn strips of cotton.
The Sénoufo distinguish themselves in the art of weaving. They are renowned for their fabric painting. On panels of ecru canvas, the craftsman draws symbolic animals and characters, accompanied by geometric patterns. Northern weavers use vegetable dyes such as indigo or kola. Kaolin is used to adorn the faces and bodies of participants in traditional and religious ceremonies.
