If pairing strops with hardware, match the strop Minimum Break Load (MBL) to that of the component being attached.
Using strops in a basket configuration increases strength by 1.5x – 2x depending on bend radius.

To account for splicing, we've applied a conservative 10% strength reduction to the line strength when calculating break loads. From there, a safety factor of 2.5 is used to determine the Working Load Limit (WLL) for general / leisure marine use. For commercial or critical applications, a higher safety factor of 6.0 is recommended.

If your application involves specific measurements (eg passing through a fairlead or eye), or has a specific WLL / MBL requirement, please let us know so we can ensure your needs are met. If you are unsure about any product from Wet Tech Rigging, please don't hesitate to ask.
