Offered here is a New Old Stock 1957 North American Aviation hydraulic canopy actuator, preserved exactly as it left the factory and never installed. This is the CYLINDER ASSY, HYD CANOPY OPERATING for the U.S. Navy T-28B and T-28C Trojan. It remains in its original long-term storage materials, including the sealed moisture-barrier wrapper, dehydrating agent notice, factory VCI paper, and the original NAA cardboard shipping box.
The actuator carries the correct North American Aviation ID plate with Part No. 159-58035, MIL-C-5503 specification, 3,500-PSI hydraulic rating, U.S. Government property marking, and Serial No. H-207. Casting number 159-58141-3 is visible on the body, consistent with North American’s mid-1950s B/C-model component range. The exterior preservative finish and internal cosmoline remain exactly as packed on May 8, 1957, with a depot re-inspection in May 1960, confirming true NOS condition.
This actuator powered the opening and closing of the T-28’s sliding canopy, a critical flightline component seldom encountered today in untouched condition. Its completeness, contract provenance, and factory packing make it highly desirable for T-28 restorers, warbird operators, collectors, and museum curators seeking original Cold War hardware.
