with New Case, Stick and Cloth

Presently I'm selling off some of my collection of fine collectable flutes to facilitate a move to a new shop.

This is a beautiful example of a nearly 200 year old one-key concert flute by Frederick Riley of 297 Broadway New York. This wonderful specimen is made of stained boxwood and has ivory rings and cap. The key is made from solid brass. The condition is beyond excellent with no warping evident and no cracks or previous repaired cracks. The rings are also all intact and not chipped or cracked. Frederick Riley made flutes at this address only between the years of 1844-1850. So we can date this flute almost to the exact year.

I recently cleaned and oiled the wood, replaced the head cork and pad and put a kicker cork on the D key as well.

The playability is excellent! It plays very easily at just above A=440 and can easily be tuned to A=440 using a single O-Ring in the headjoint and on the upper joint tenon. The actual sounding length is 20 7/8" or more closely to 530 mm.

This is a beautiful instrument which can be played in solo or ensemble. It does favor the keys of G and D with the F Natural being very sharp which is a feature built into most popular flutes of the period.

I'm including a new foam flute case, a cork grease (not shown), a cleaning stick and cloth.

Boxwood flutes in this condition are very hard to find. Player or collector, I would consider this specimen a museum quality instrument.

Don't miss out. This one will go fast.
